S/M refer to measurements, a fairly flexible fit garment. Hip measurement is most important, compare to a similar rigid skirt in your wardrobe.
This is a very good non summer skirt option. Front pockets, elastic waist. Alternating stripes in side inserts. Gathered elastic bottom hem, still comfortable for walking. Denim version shown happily on my beach walks.
